Yesterday, Thursday, the 30th of March 2018, a special police officer (SPO) was killed by terrorists in his own house in Bijbehara, in Anantnag district. The name of this unfortunate SPO was Mushtaq Ahmad Sheikh. His wife Fareeda was injured. This ghastly murder is just one more in the long line of murders by terrorists in Kashmir.
Other places have their occasional terrorist bombings and killings, but in Kashmir, it is relentless, continuous and sustained. As long as terrorist states are allowed to exist, this will go on.
75 security personnel were killed in Kashmir in 2017. It is no consolation that 203 terrorists were also killed. Killing terrorists is not working.
Our country faces this in the north-east too. 97 people (51 insurgents and 12 security personnel) were killed there last year.
